SOAS Academic Excellence Scholarship is designed to award new entry 2020 undergraduate students with outstanding academic performance.

Scholarship Value

The Scholarship represents a cash payment of £7,000 for the first year; a further £7,000 if the first year is completed with the grade of a first overall; and a final £7,000 if the second year is completed with the grade of a first overall.

Eligibility for scholarship

To be eligible for consideration, students must:

  • Be starting as new undergraduate student in September 2020
  • Achieve one of the following qualifications/grades*:
    • A Level grades A*AA
    • Scottish Advanced Higher grades AAA
    • IB 39 overall and 7,6,6, in Higher Level subjects
    • Cambridge pre-U grades D2, D3, D3
  • Also have:
    • Minimum 8 GCSEs, including 5 at grade A including Maths and English (numerical grade 7) and remaining subjects at grade B (numerical grade 6)

(*UCAS tariff equivalencies or combinations of qualifications will not be accepted)

Please be aware that eligible qualifications do not automatically guarantee a scholarship.

Applicants do not need to make a separate application for the Scholarship; successful candidates will be notified at the same time as they are offered a place. (The offer will outline the conditions required to be met).
