Scholarships at Bournemouth University

Entry

• For courses starting in January 2024, September 2024 and January 2025. Scholarships cannot be deferred.

Eligibility

• Any overseas applicant for either a full-time taught postgraduate course delivered on campus or Master's by research delivered on campus

• You must have achieved a minimum of an upper second-class Honours degree (or international equivalent grades - see below), or a CPE with a merit profile

Exclusions

• If you are applying for a Postgraduate Diploma, distance learning course or certain courses delivered by the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences, you will not be eligible for this award.

• You can receive this scholarship alongside a Sports or Music scholarship, but cannot receive any other academic award.

• Part-time, student-driven and distance learning (i.e online courses) are not eligible.

• £3,500 for January 2024 entry and £3,750 for September 2024 and January 2025 entry (tuition fee reduction)

• Any Indonesian student who has completed a relevant course at Universitas Bina Nusantara (BINUS).

• You must be resident in Indonesia at the time of application.

• You will automatically receive this award as a student from BINUS.

• You must be studying a relevant course with the Bournemouth University Business School.

Exclusions

Recipients of this scholarship cannot be in receipt of any other BU scholarship.

Value

£2,000 (tuition fee reduction).

Any student from BINUS who is going on to study an applicable course with the BU Business School will automatically receive this scholarship provided that they have the relevant qualification.

You don’t need to apply and will receive the scholarship in the form of a tuition fee reduction during your first year.

• You will automatically receive this award as a student from Wuhan Business University, China

• You must be studying a relevant course with the Facutly of Media & Communication

Any student from Wuhan Business University who is going on to study an applicable course with the Faculty of Media & Communication will automatically receive this scholarship provided that they have the relevant qualification.

Entry

For courses starting in September 2024 and January 2025. Scholarships cannot be deferred.

Eligibility

• Any applicant for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate course at BU.

• You must be able to demonstrate that you are a talented musician or vocalist, and that you have been involved in ensemble activity.

Value

Music scholars receive free music lessons and other benefits in kind, such as examination fees and assistance with buying music. This amounts to approximately £600 per year.

Application deadline

31 August if your course starts in September and 30 November if your course starts in January. Late applications may be considered if there are funds remaining.

Eligibility

• Any applicant for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate course delivered at BU.

• Be a high performing sportsperson and have the desire to continue to develop in the sporting arena, as well as academically.

The BU Sport Scholarship is available to high-level sporting athletes coming to study at either undergraduate or postgraduate level at BU. The scholarship is designed to provide you with the funding you need to develop your sporting abilities and take them to the next level.

You can apply for up to £5,000 of funding and put this money towards coaching, equipment, competition entry fees, travel expenses or/or support services.

You must demonstrate excellence in your chosen sport, and be part of a Regional, National and/or International squad and compete at that level. Athletes receiving a scholarship will ideally represent BU in the BUCS programme (League and Individual), as well as themselves and/or their club at regional, national or international level. Individual athletes will also need to be competitive with top performers within the BUCS programme.

If you are awarded a scholarship, you will need to meet with the Sports Performance Manager to assess how the funds will help you throughout the year, commit to attending 75% of training sessions, represent BU in sporting competitions where possible to raise the profile of SportBU’s activities and to be featured in marketing materials.

As part of your application for a BU Sport Scholarship, you will have to attend our trial process and be assessed by our coach.

You must ensure your application is supported by a reference from a High-Performance Coach or National Governing Body coach/ If you are applying for a sport that sits outside our performance BUCS programme, you will need to ensure that two references are sent alongside your application

Entry

Eligibility

• Any student who is a citizen of Turkey, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, or China and who intends to return there at the end of the period of study.

• Eligible courses are MSc Adult Nursing, MSc Marketing Management, MA 3D Computer Animation and MSc Digital Health.

• You must have achieved a minimum of an upper second-class Honours degree in the UK (or equivalent).

• You must have achieved the minimum Chevening English language requirement - minimum IELTS (Academic) 6.5 with minimum 5.5 in each component or equivalent.

• You must have completed at least two years' work experience before applying.

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, Bournemouth University is offering two scholarships to students in Indonesia and Thailand applying for postgraduate courses in September 2024.

The GREAT Scholarships 2024 programme, launched by the British Council together with 72 UK universities, supports postgraduate students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Greece, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam to access world-class UK higher education opportunities. The scholarship programme offers financial support of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects, at the 72 institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Eligibility

Applicants for full-time taught postgraduate courses who are resident in Indonesia or Thailand.

Applicants from Thailand can apply for one of the following courses:

• LLM Public International Law

• LLM International Commercial Law

• LLM International Tax Law

• LLM Intellectual Property

Applicants from Indonesia can apply for any BU full-time postgraduate course.

You must have achieved a minimum of a UK upper second-class Honours (2:1) degree (or overseas equivalent) that is relevant to your postgraduate study.

Exclusions

Applicants for Postgraduate Diplomas are not eligible for this award. You cannot be in receipt of any other BU scholarships.
