Chevening Scholarships are the UK government's global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and partner organisations. This scholarship programme makes awards to talented individuals who demonstrate the potential to become future leaders, decision makers and opinion formers across a wide range of fields, including politics, government, media, civil society, religion and academia. Goldsmiths welcomes many Chevening scholars each year from a wide range of countries including China, Egypt, Hong Kong, Jordan, Mauritius, Pakistan, South Korea and Turkey. Students are studying on courses related to Media and Communications, Digital Media, Filmmaking, Cultural Studies, Gender and Culture, International Studies and many others.  

Eligibility criteria

To qualify for a Chevening Scholarship, you must:

• Demonstrate that you have achieved a minimum English language requirement.

• Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country at the time of applying for the award, and intend to return there at the end of the period of study.

• Hold a degree that is equivalent to at least a good UK second-class honours degree.

• Have completed at least two years' work or equivalent experience.

Chevening Scholarships are for high-calibre graduates with the personal, intellectual and interpersonal qualities necessary for leadership. You will therefore need to demonstrate that you:

• Have the personal, intellectual and interpersonal qualities necessary for leadership in your home country.

• Are motivated to develop your career in order to establish a position of leadership in your own country within ten years of your scholarship.

• Have a clear post-scholarship plan, outlining your career objectives and how you plan to achieve them.

• Are committed to networking to find global solutions.

• Are committed to networking within the Chevening community, via online engagement and attending Chevening events in the UK and engaging with the alumni network in your home country.

• Are able to use your studies and experience in the UK to benefit yourself, your country and the UK.

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, Goldsmiths, University of London is offering three scholarships to students in Mexico, Pakistan and Turkey applying for postgraduate-taught courses at Goldsmiths, University of London.

The GREAT Scholarships 2024 programme, launched by the British Council together with 49 UK universities, supports postgraduate students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam to access world-class UK higher education opportunities. The scholarship programme offers financial support of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study in the UK.

Value

The awards are worth £10,000 each as a fee waiver.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants can apply for this opportunity once an offer of a place to study at Goldsmiths is accepted. Awards will be based on a combination of academic merit and the information given on the application form.

Students must have accepted their offer for one of the September 2024 entry taught postgraduate courses at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Please note that applicants must be passport holders of the United Mexican States, the Republic of Turkey and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, respectively.

Application deadlines

The deadline to apply for this scholarship is 13 May 2024.

Value

Successful applicants will receive a full tuition fee waiver, a living allowance of £19,550 for their year of study, and we will also pay for a return trip to and from the UK.

Eligibility criteria

You must meet the general eligibility criteria and regulations. You must also:

• Be Palestinian, priority will be given to those residents in the West Bank, Gaza or one of the Palestinian Refugee Camps.

• Be currently residing in Palestine or be a holder of Palestinian travel documents.

• Require a Student Visa to study in the UK.

• Be holding an offer of study on a taught Masters programme at Goldsmiths in 2024. Please note, if you are applying for a 2-year course, the scholarship will only cover 1 year.

• Priority will be given to applicants who have not studied at a university outside the West Bank, Gaza Israel, or Lebanon.

• Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously completed a postgraduate degree or are studying for a postgraduate degree at the time of application.

Application deadlines

Applications for 2024 are open from 5 February to 26 April.

We offer postgraduate degrees in subjects covering the arts, humanities, social sciences, cultural studies, computing, and entrepreneurial business and management.

Applicants who have accepted their offer for postgraduate taught and Graduate Diploma programmes may be eligible to receive awards of £2,000 and £4,000.

Eligibility criteria

You must meet the general eligibility criteria and regulations. You must also be eligible to pay international fees (this includes international fee-paying students from within the EU) and have accepted an offer on an eligible Goldsmiths programme starting in 2024:

• Postgraduate taught degree programmes (excluding Fine Art and Design programmes).

• Graduate Diploma programmes.

Application deadlines

If you submit your application by May 15 2024 at 00:00 BST (British Summer Time), you can expect to receive the outcome of your application in the week commencing June 10 2024.

Successful applicants will recieve £8,825 allowance, a full tuition fee waiver for each year of study and an accommodation fee for a single study bedroom in Goldsmiths halls of residence (up to £200 per week).

Up to 4 (two for undergraduate students; two for postgraduate taught students).

Eligibility criteria

You must meet the general eligibility criteria and regulations. You must also:

• Have refugee status in the UK, or have an active application for asylum in the UK (you will be required to provide documentation to demonstrate your status). Supporting documents should be uploaded to your MyGoldsmiths account.

• Be holding an offer of study on an undergraduate or taught postgraduate degree at Goldsmiths.

• You must be eligible to study in the UK. If you are on Immigration Bail, this must not have a condition prohibiting you from studying.

Any scholarship applications from Ukrainian applicants seeking refuge in the UK under the special arrangement set by the Home Office will be considered for this scholarship.

Applicants who have accepted their offer for undergraduate degree programmes and International Foundation Certificate programmes may be eligible to receive awards of £2,000 and £5,000.

You must meet the general eligibility criteria and regulations. You must also be eligible to pay international fees (this includes international fee-paying students from within the EU) and have accepted an offer on an eligible Goldsmiths programme starting in 2024:

• Undergraduate degree programmes (excluding Fine Art and Fine Art Extension programmes).

• International Foundation Certificate programmes.

Fully-funded scholarships include tuition fees, full maintenance/living costs for the duration of your course, visa and healthcare surcharge fees, and travel costs.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

• hold Kuwaiti nationality.

• apply for either a full-time Foundation or Undergraduate (Bachelors) programme.

• have a high school diploma or its equivalent in accordance with the conditions and criteria decided by the Goldsmiths University of London and the Kuwait Ministry of Education, provided that the certificate’s validity does not exceed two years from the date of obtaining it.

• have an equivalency for a high school diploma (from outside Kuwait) at the Ministry of Education.

• not to have received a scholarship or scholarship in a previous or current period and then withdrew or was dismissed from it.

• meet the conditions set by the host (country/agency) and the ministry.

• not be more than 23 years of age.

• must apply to register for the grant within the specified period of the Ministry’s announcement.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

• Hold Syrian, Jordanian, Lebanese, or Palestinian nationality, and reside in one of these countries – the Saïd Foundation will consider Syrians residing elsewhere due to current circumstances in the country.

• Hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK 2:1 or higher (or be in the final year of an undergraduate degree).

• Have applied for an eligible full-time Masters programme at Goldsmiths, University of London.

• Have professional/voluntary experience relevant to your field of study, and a clear career path.

• Have leadership potential.
