The University of Manchester is based in the north of England and is among the largest universities in the UK, with around 38,000 students (almost 9,000 international) currently enrolled alongside 10,000 staff. The University is famous for its academic and research excellence, and is also a member of the Russell Group.

The University of Manchester currently has 25 Nobel Prize winners among current and former staff and students, and 91% of Manchester’s recent graduates go straight into employment or continued studies. In the prestigious Shanghai Jiao Tong World Rankings, the University of Manchester is ranked 41st in the world, eighth in Europe and fifth in the UK.

Following the last Quality Assurance Agency review in 2011, it was stated that: “confidence can reasonably be placed in the soundness of the institution's present and likely future management of the quality of the learning opportunities available to students”, the best possible outcome for the University.
